A request has been made by San Jose's Independent police auditor to make it easier for her to have outside employment.
Under her contract, LaDoris Cordell must obtain permission from the council before she does any outside work.
Cordell wants the city council next Tuesday to let the mayor and the city attorney approve any outside work requests without having to wait for the council's permission.
The retired judge has been offered five-thousand-dollars to serve as a mediator in a lawsuit.
Cordell says she expects to mediate just a couple of cases a year.
She charges 25-hundred-dollars-a-day, while most local mediators reportedly charge up to 500-dollars-an-hour.
