VTA technology was put to good use during a recent lost child incident.
Spokeswoman Jennie Loft says a woman boarded a light rail at the Hamilton Station, only to realize that she had done so without her toddler.
Using surveillance cameras, the control center was able to see the little girl who was being consoled by good samaritans.
The train was already in route to the next destination, but was given permission to return to Hamilton.
Loft says riders cheered when the mother and daughter were reunited.
