iPad pre-sales skyrocket

CUPERTINO -- Early orders for Apple's iPad appear to be off to a good start. Analysts say Apple received over 90,000 pre-orders for the device within the first six hours of it's release.

The iPad will be available in stores next month and insiders say sales is now expected to reach five million units this year. Some recent polls have indicated a much cooler response by consumers with up to 65% percent of those surveyed expressing a negative view of the new device.

In the meantime, Apple has come out with information about how it will replace dead batteries for the iPad. Apple says it will replace the entire iPad if the battery goes bad for $99 plus about $7 for shipping. The same price applies for both the $499 and the $829 versions.

Apple advises any information on the iPad sent in will be lost and should be backed up before sending it in.
