New information released on Palo Alto homicide

PALO ALTO -- Some new information was released on Palo Alto's first homicide of the year when the defendant made an appearance in court Friday. A police affidavit on the investigation was unsealed by the judge during a hearing for Bulos "Paul" Zumot, who is accused of murdering his girlfriend Jennifer Schipsi, who was found in a house fire in October.

A medical examiner's report was in the affidavit, which said that Schipsi may have been strangled to death before the fire was set at the house she shared with the defendant. The affidavit also said that Zumot showed up at the scene after work shortly after the fire was reported and volunteered to come to the police station to provide a statement.

The detective seized Zumot's clothes, which were found to have accellerant, as had been found at the fire scene.
