SAN JOSE - Fire crews rescued a worker who fell down a ventilation shaft at a county building on North First Street.

The incident occurred just after 11AM Monday when the victim, identified as Raul Banderas, was reportedly working on the air-conditioning system... as he made his way through a shaft, he reportedly did not see a hole and fell about 20-feet below.

Banderas suffered a back injury and fire crews were called in to remove him.

A rescue team was able to extract Banderas from the confined space about two hours later.

Banderas was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
