Local school superintendents receive too much money
SAN JOSE -- A Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury report says many Santa Clara County school superintendents and board members are overpaid and get too many health benefits. The report, released this past week, also says superintendents and school board trustees get too many perks such as housing loans, car allowances and annuities.
The report recommends districts look for local candidates when searching for new superintendents, pay less for lawyers, and consider consolidating to save money.
The districts that don't overpay, according to the report, are Palo Alto, Mountain View Whisman and Mountain View-Los Altos.
