Clear card goes belly-up

SAN JOSE -- Looks like you'll have to stand in long lines at San Jose airport security again.

Clear, a company that allowed its members to speed through airport security using the so-called "Clear card", shut down without warning Monday night -- citing financial troubles.

The company issued a statement saying it was unable to negotiate an agreement with its senior creditor to continue operations.

The Clear card was in use at 20 airports in the country, including Mineta San Jose, SFO and Oakland International.

Clear has yet to announce how its going to handle its 165,000 members -- all of whom paid the company $128 per year for the Clear card.
