Local schools getting help with greening

LOS ALTOS -- A Silicon Valley solar company will join forces with the catholic church to make some local schools greener.  Photon Energy Services and the Diocese of San Jose are teaming up to bring green technology to some bay area schools.

The Los Altos-based developer of solar electric generation systems has unveiled the plan in hopes of creating one of the largest Catholic solar projects in the nation. The San Jose Business Journal reports the company will provide solar energy for five catholic schools and one cemetery in Silicon Valley.

The company says it will provide around 70% of each locations energy needs, and over the life of the system would eliminate as much as 19,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
