PALO ALTO -Nearly 50-positions at Stanford have been eliminated as endowment losses have forced departments to scale back.
The Alumni Department let ten people go, the Office of Development cut nineteen positions, and the division of Land, Buildings, and Real Estate eliminated twenty employees.
The job cuts were made as each unit attempts to reduce its annual budget by 15%.
Stanford has estimated that its endowment will fall at least 30% in the current fiscal year... endowments fund a quarter of the operating budget.
