IPO activity sharply down from 2007 levels

SILICON VALLEY -- It wasn't that long ago that companies were going public on a fairly regular basis.
2007 saw dozens of venture-backed IPOs.
And then, about a year ago, IPO activity ground to a halt.
In the last year, there have been just 7 venture-backed IPOs.
Dow Jones VentureSource is saying it's the worst liquidity market for startups since researchers started tracking the industry in 1992.
Still, that isn't stopping Chinese gaming site Changyou.com (CYOU) from going public Thursday for an estimated $16 per share.
The site makes a line of massive-multiplayer games, with titles like the Novel of Eight Demigods, Duke of Mountain Deer and Immortal Faith.
