SILICON VALLEY RATES HIGH FOR TEEN CAR SAFETY

Santa Clara County appears to be one of the top places where teenagers appear to be out of danger, as far as car safety is concerned. According to a new study by Allstate Insurance, the list of the safest places for teens in cars during the holiday found the San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara metro ranked 7th.
The San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont area ranks second. Fatal crashes involving teenagers is lower from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day in our area than most of the nation. Salt Lake City was rated the number one city for safety.
Conversely, Tampa, Jacksonville and Orlando, Florida are the deadliest holiday locations for teenagers.
Despite the study, there has already been one teenager fatality on local roads with the death of 19-year-old Sophie Belknap of San Jose dying in a crash on Highway 85 near Saratoga on Sunday.
