Cupertino - There have been a large number of rumors swirling around the Internet that Apple CEO Steve Jobs may be in poor health. The story gained steam after Apple announced that Jobs would not be appearing at its MacWorld conference next month.
The conference is known for Jobs' keynote addresses in which he showcases new products and improvements to older products. Questions about his health first occurred in 2003 after Jobs was treated for a rare form of pancreatic cancer.
Apple says its decision to pull out of future MacWorld Conferences was because the company is moving away from trade shows as part of it's marketing plans. However, that explanation has not stifled the rumor mill which has been fed, in part, by Jobs' gaunt appearance at other appearances this year.
Apple stock fell nearly 5% Tuesday after one analyst called on the company to be more open about the CEO's health and possible succession plans. So far, Apple has not responded to the latest round of rumors.
