San Jose - The City of San Jose will see a lot of athletes tooling around town on two-wheelers next year. Race course details have been announced for the Amgen Tour of California bicycle race. San Jose is the only city to have taken part in the event for each of the Tour's four years.
When the clocks strike 12pm on Tuesday, February 17th, 2009, cyclists will take off from Silicon Valley to ride over the East Bay Hills to Modesto. Last February, the route went the other way.
The intersection of Almaden Avenue and San Fernando Street will be the starting point in San Jose. Last time, riders finished up the day in front of City Hall.
The 8 stage race will again feature a climb up Sierra Road, which has become a signature challenge for the Tour.
