San Jose - The San Jose Police Department gave out three "Safe Community" awards.
Officer Raul Martinez was honored for his work in helping prevent crime by running the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip program. He says police are foiling more and more crimes using Crime Stoppers.
Martinez wants to remind local residents that all calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and a tip can lead to a cash reward is someone is caught and successfully prosecuted.
In addition to Martinez, the department gave Safe Community awards to the Montevideo Improvement Association and San Jose Historic Downtown Neighborhood Association founder Frank Penrose.
