GREEN BUILDING TRADE SHOW TAKING PLACE
|
A trade show designed to show off the construction industry's latest green-building ideas has opened at the McEnery Convention Center. It's called West Coast Green, and hundreds of companies are there, showing off solar panels, water recycling systems and a host of other eco-friendly gadgets.
One of the companies getting the most buzz is St. Louis-based SG Blocks, which makes 1,700 square foot homes made out of old shipping containers. The company is called "SG Blocks" because the containers snap together like blocks, cutting a new home's construction time nearly in half.
The show's highlight will be former vice president Al Gore, who plans to give the keynote address on Saturday.
