I commented last week that the word “hot” had played a significant role in the firing of San Jose auditor Jerry Silva.
It seems that the word had been used in Silva’s office to describe a woman, and in the report that served as the sexual harassment case against Silva – the word showed up more than once.
Well, that tells me that, if I were working for the San Jose city council instead of being the CEO of these radio stations, I might be out of a job. That may be a slight exaggeration, but listen to this:
On Friday of last week, Randy Jones, a popular broadcaster on our Station KRTY, came to work wearing a T-shirt. In large letters, the T-shirt proclaimed “I Love Hot Moms.” I didn’t ask Randy to take off the T-shirt, and not once did I reprimand him. The word “hot” was with us throughout Randy’s shift.
Granted: there’s probably an essential difference between the office atmosphere in a radio station and what you might expect in city hall, and “hot” was not the only word the investigator used against Silva. But, for me, Randy’s T-shirt says something about the weapon called “sexual harassment” and the way it was wielded against Jerry Silva.
This is Robert Kieve, and that’s a personal opinion.
