TENS OF THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN LIVE IN POVERTY IN SANTA CLARA COUNTY

Tens of thousand of children in Santa Clara County are living at or below the federal poverty level, according to a new study by the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health.
President and CEO Dr. David Alexander says studies have shown a correlation between poverty and poor health, due in part to problems associated with accessing care.
According to the study, based on 2006 numbers, nearly 47-thousand children under the age of 17 lived in families earning below the federal poverty level in Santa Clara County... of those, more than 25-thousand were Latino. |
