SAN JOSE OPENS COOLING CENTERS
|
SAN JOSE -- The city of San Jose plans to use community centers as cooling centers for people to come in and get relief from the heat that's in the forecast for this week.
Mayor Chuck Reed says the cooling centers will especially help seniors.
"We want to give them the chance to get them out of their home and go to someplace that's cool where they can spend the day," Reed said. "Just chillin' down, and go back in the evening. So this helps with the heat stroke problem that other cities have had when temperatures get hot. We want to make sure our seniors have a place to go where they won't be in pain.
The forecast is calling for temperatures in the high 90s Wednesday through Friday.
