PUBLIC TRANSIT SEES INCREASE IN RIDERSHIP
|
Bay Area Public Transit is seeing a jump in ridership. As gas prices go up, the chance of finding a seat on Caltrain or other commuter train lines goes down.
People are flocking to public transit these days, as rising gas prices have forced people out of their vehicles.
According to a report, nearly half a percent fewer miles were drivin in 2007, the first decrease since tracking of american milage began in 1982. Transit companies are scrambling to try and accomodate all the new riders including bicyclists.
Caltrain has seen a huge spike in ridership as peninsula commuters stay away from the pump.
Station Parking and train overcrowding are major issues being adressed by transit companies as more people get on board. |
