MOUNTAIN LIONS TO BE MONITORED
|
Some Mountain Lions in the Santa Cruz Mountains will soon have their every move under watch.
It's called The Bay Area Puma Project and will focus on the behavior of Mountain Lions as their territory is invaded by humans.
Up to five Mountain Lions will be outfitted with collars that have global positioning systems attached to them.
Scientists from UC Santa Cruz will then track the big cats movements, focusing not only on how the lions navigate developed areas, but also the effect the developments have on them.
The study will also focus on how to minimize conflicts between Mountain Lions and humans. |
