MORGAN HILL AFFORDABLE HOUSING POLICY FACING VOTE

Morgan Hill - The affordable housing standards in Morgan Hill may put to a vote.

Developers claim that Morgan Hill has a higher number of Below Market Rate units compared to nearby cities and want to change the requirements to cut down on how many need to be built in the future.

Papers were filed Thursday to put a measure on the November ballot.

This came after months of negotiations in which the City Council and the developers could not reach an agreement on the percentage.

The proposed initiative would limit the number of affordable unites at 25% of new homes instead of the current 33%.
