MANDATORY WATER RESTRICTIONS CONSIDERED
|
San Jose - The Santa Clara Valley Water district might not be asking for voluntary water cuts anymore, saying mandatory water restrictions could be on the way.
Tuesday, the board of directors agreed that more aggressive steps need to be taken to show the public the need to conserve water.
In December, the board called for a voluntary 10% water cut.
The board's chair called for an aggresive outreach program to show people what will happen if they don't obey. The board says court ordered restrictions on the water supply combined with an extremely dry spring has forced the tough stance. |
