MAN ARRESTED TRYING TO JUMP ON FREEWAY

San Jose - A suicidal man tied up the morning commute on Highway 101 at Julian and McKee this morning but, in the end, did not jump.

It started before 7am and snarled traffic for two hours.  San Jose police officer Jermaine Thomas said it ended peacefully. The fire department was able to retrieve him with the use of one of their ladders.

The man is being held for a psychiatric evaluation but likely won't face charges despite the massive inconvenience to motorists.
