China - The Chinese government has denied a visa to a Los Gatos native set to cover the Olympics as a reporter.
Kendra Zanotto, a 2004 bronze medalist, was going to work as a reporter covering synchronized swimming for the Olympic News Service, an official arm of the Beijing games.
The Chinese consulate didn't tell her why her application was denied, but the firm handling her hiring told her the government was uneasy about her affiliation with Team Darfur, a group of athletes that seeks to call attention to the crisis in Sudan.
Zanotto has written a letter appealing the decision.
