2 good size anise 2 medium onions peeled 5 Tbs. butter 2 Tbs. flour pinch salt & pepper 1/4 cup warm milk 2 Tbs. heavy cream 2 Tbs. sifted bread crumbs 2 Tbs. parmesan cheese
Trim finocchio (leave 2" stalk above bulb). Cut into Quarters. Cut onion into quarters. Cook about 15 minutes in salted water until tender. Drain well. Place in casserole dish.
Pre-heat broiler. Melt butter - add flour, salt & pepper blend well. Add warmed milk & cream, cook and stir until thickened. Pour over vegetables and sprinkle bread crumbs and cheese on top. Place under broiler for a few minutes (until a crust forms). Serves 4 Enjoy.
