FORMER TECH EMPLOYEE ENTERS PLEA DEAL FOR EMBEZZLEMENT
San Jose - A former employee for Cupertino-based Trend Micro accused of embezzlement has pleaded no contest. 48-year-old Russell Morita could face up to three years in prison.
Prosecutors say Morita embezzled more than $130,000 from the Internet security company between 2004 and 2007 by using a company credit card to purchase furniture and electronics for his home. In addiction, he double-paid the corporate credit card and had the balance refunded to him personally.
The scam came to light after officials at Trend Micro noticed irregularities and launched an investigation.
