Eggo waffle shortage has tie to Silicon Valley

SILICON VALLEY -- A popular frozen breakfast invented in Silicon Valley half a century ago is quickly disappearing from store shelves across America and is going to be hard to come by this winter.

A flood at a Kellogg’s factory in Atlanta and equipment problems at a plant in Tennessee plant has lead to a production shortage of Eggo Waffles.

Full distribution of Eggo products is not expected until the middle of next year.

In the 1950s, Eggo waffles were invented by three brothers in San Jose.

Eggo was acquired by Kellogg's in the 1970s.
