CUPERTINO - A Tennessee hospital has confirmed that the CEO of Cupertino-based Apple had a liver transplant there recently.
Steve Jobs was described as the sickest patient on their organ waiting list and that's why he was able to get a donor liver.
There had been speculation Jobs' money gave him an advantage that organ donations are not supposed to have.
Dr. James Eason, chief of transplantation at Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute in Memphis, would not say when the operation on the computer icon took place but said Jobs' prognosis is excellent.
