COUNTY CONSIDERING OPTIONS IN GETTING RID OF SHELLFISH

Hollister - County officials are thinking about dumping fertilizer byproducts into a reservoir in Hollister, in hopes of killing an invasive species of shellfish.

The idea is being floated around at the county, and could get rolled out soon.

Officials are eager to eradicate zebra mussels choking pipes and drains at the El Justo Reservoir, and are considering a range of options.

Using fertilizer byproducts is being looked at as one of the least environmentally-damaging options on the table right now.
