San Jose - Several well-known San Jose radio personalities were caught up in Tuesday's nation-wide layoff by Clear Channel Communications. The ax fell hard at Clear channel-owned KUFX, the local FM classic rock station known as The Fox.
Among those getting pink slips were veteran DJs Laurie Roberts and Greg Stone along with comedian Fred Reiss. The station also laid off some of its sales staff.
After getting the news, the affected employees were reportedly escorted out of the building without being given a chance to say goodbye or collect their belongings. They were, however, given a severance package.
Nation-wide Clear Channel let over 1,800 employees go yesterday. That number represents about 9% of its work force.
