Border shooting manhunt leads to San Jose

SAN JOSE -- Federal investigators made an arrest in San Jose Friday in a manhunt connected to the shooting death of a Border Patrol agent in San Diego County.

Authorities say at least one person was taken into custody in San Jose at O'Connor Hospital, but have not disclosed how the detainee was connected to the incident.

Agent Robert Rosas was found dead Thursday night in the town of Campo near the US-Mexico border. The Border Patrol says Rosas spotted a suspicious group of people and he called for additional agents to help track them. When the group split up, the agent followed some of the suspects on his own into the darkness.

Other agents lost radio contact with him shortly after 9 p.m., then heard gunshots. They found the agent dead with a bullet to the head.
