Analysts project double-digit unemployment in Silicon Valley
SILICON VALLEY -- Researchers expect unemployment rates in Silicon Valley to hit double digits within the next year.
The grim unemployment forecast came this week from analysts at the University of the Pacific, who said they expected Silicon Valley's unemployment rate to hit 11.5 percent in early 2010.
That's a little better than the UOP's forecast for the entire state, and significantly better than some parts of California, like the San Joaquin Valley, which analysts say could see an 18 percent unemployment rate.
Still, there's light at the end of the tunnel.
UOP analysts say they expect the recession to end this year, with full economic recovery coming within the next 3 years.
