AMD OPENING NEW RESEARCH CENTER IN SHANGHAI

    China - There are more details out today on Sunnyvale-based Advanced Micro Device's plans to build a new research and development center in Shanghai, China.

    The China Daily is reporting AMD is helping build the country's fastest computer to date.

    At the same time, it's gaining a major foothold in China, by building the so-called Shanghai Supercomputer Center.

    The new center is designing high-performance computers based off of AMD's line of Opteron chips.
